Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor on Forestry, Environment, and Climate Change, has stated that the government will soon take a decision regarding the national election and referendum. Since political parties have been unable to reach a consensus, the government will now decide through its own discussions.
Speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Monday, she said, “We wanted the parties to resolve their differences and communicate their positions. Seven days have passed without progress. Therefore, the government will sit in discussions and make a reasoned decision.”
Rizwana added, “The government is not aligned with any side. Decisions will be made considering the expectations of the people and the interests of the state. No one will be forced into anything.”
She also mentioned that the government’s doors remain open for everyone and, if necessary, political parties may be called for discussions again. However, for now, the government will clarify its stance through internal deliberations.
The advisor stated, “The election will be held in February. Some are trying to spread confusion, but the government is determined in its preparation for the elections. No room will be given for disorder.”
She further added, “To ensure a level playing field, the Election Commission will receive maximum support. If anyone raises allegations of irregularities, the government will take action. Our goal is a peaceful and credible election.”
