In his message issued on Friday (August 15), Dr. Yunus congratulated the Hindu community and reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment, born out of the historic mass uprising of students, workers, and the public, to safeguarding the bonds of fraternity and unity across all faiths and communities.
He described Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, as one of the most significant religious festivals for the Hindu community. Lord Krishna, he noted, dedicated his life to promoting equality, justice, compassion, and peace, standing resolutely against oppression and ensuring the victory of righteousness over wrongdoing.
Dr. Yunus also highlighted that communal harmony is a defining feature of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage, preserved and celebrated for generations. The values and ideals of Lord Krishna, he said, will further strengthen mutual respect, goodwill, and fraternity among all citizens.
Concluding his message, the Chief Adviser called upon the nation to work together in unity to create a peaceful, inclusive, and discrimination-free Bangladesh where people of all faiths can live with dignity and mutual respect.
